COVERED BRIDGES AND COURT HOUSES
Since the culture of the one room school houses was during the late 1800s and early 1900s, I decided to also put on this blog the the relevant architecture that the school children would have been directly exposed to. Which would be the covered bridges that the children would have actually crossed, and the county court houses that they would have certainly seen on their trip into town.

KIRKER COVERED BRIDGE/ADAMS COUNTY
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP
Bridge was within 3 miles of numerous schools, obviously students utilized this bridge in their local travels.
HARSHAVILLE COVERED BRIDGE/ADAMS COUNTY
OLIVER TOWNSHIP
Bridge was less than a half a mile from the closest school, and with 2-3 miles of several others. Needless to say, students crossed this bridge numerous times.
*Interesting fact-this bridge was used by the Confederate Army's John Morgan Raiders

This covered bridge was right off of US RT-50, and was centered within 3 miles of at least 5 schools.

NORTH POLE COVERED BRIDGE/HIGHLAND COUNTY
HUNTINGTON TOWNSHIP
This bridge is within 3 miles of where 5 schools used to be located, obviously some of the children used this bridge in their lives.

One must wonder how many children who went to the local schools had parents who played and went to school with the future war general and president.

The builder left a signature in a way, this was done only on the back of the school. Every 7th row he placed the bricks with the ends out instead of the side out.
